Kyle takes 1st place for talk at ESA and awarded the Root Agricultural Award!

Dec. 7, 2022

Congratulations to Kyle Akred, Tilmon Lab MS student, for taking 1st Place at the 2022 Entomological Society of America Student Oral Presentation Competition: Grad P-IE: IPM-Field Crops 2 section! Kyle's talk, titled "Determining the relationship between Asiatic garden beetle (AGB) grub density and damage to field corn" summarized his MS research in the greenhouse, microplots and field settings. The overall objective of Kyle's research, determining the relationship of AGB grub density and corn damage, hopes to become the basis for an economic injury level and answer the questions, how many grubs are too many? And when are management tactics required? The annual ESA meeting was held in Vancouver, Canada.

In addition, Kyle was also awarded the 2022 Root Agricultural Award for his presentation (Determining the relationship between Asiatic garden beetle grub density and damage to field corn). The Root Agricultural Award is given for a student poster/presentaton competition among The Ohio State University department of entomology students.

Congratulations, Kyle!
